Naperville Lumineers
Lumineers is simply a brand name of
porcelain veneers made with
DenMat's cerinate porcelain. It's not a totally different type of
restoration.
The Cerinate porcelain used to make
Lumineers is particularly strong and can be made a little bit thinner than
most other porcelain veneers. Instead of five-tenths of an inch thick,
they are three-tenths of an inch thick. They have their advantages and
disadvantages. If you would
like to see if these would be appropriate for you, you may
schedule an appointment for a
complimentary consultation to ask Naperville cosmetic
dentist, Dr. Karen Blair.
The advertising makes it seem like Lumineers are simple to do. While they
are simple for the patient, developing a smile design that is beautiful
and appropriate for you requires artistic talent and extensive training in
cosmetic dentistry. Since these
veneers are a little bit thinner than the average veneer, it requires even
more skill and artistry on the part of the cosmetic dentist and the
laboratory. Color management is very tricky even with thick porcelain.
When it is three-tenths of an inch thick, as these can sometimes be, it is
even more demanding for the cosmetic dentist and the laboratory. The
thinness makes the shaping of the teeth more challenging, too.
And when you have a new smile, Dr. Blair will do a
computerized smile design for you. She will
take your digital photograph and use cosmetic imaging software to help
design your smile and then show you what you will look like with your new
smile.
So whether you want Lumineers or another brand of
porcelain veneers, it's important to visit a dental artist and experienced, trained
cosmetic dentist like Dr. Karen Blair. |
